General remarks
Vivaldi is a table potato variety with oval tubers, shallow eyes, light yellow to yellow skin and yellow flesh. The variety has a very regular size distribution. Low dry matter content, cooking type AB. No after cooking discoloration. The consumption quality is very good. Suitable for table potatoes throughout Europe.
Maturity
Vivaldi is second early maturing variety with a rather early tuberisation.
Seed treatment
Vivaldi has a rather long dormancy. Before planting, store the potatoes in a well ventilated place to have an early crop. Planting is favourable when the emerge is without stress circumstances like heat, cold and a good structure of the soil. Pre-sprouting might be useful, but when the soil conditions are good, Vivaldi can also be planted with small white buds.
Fertilisation
This variety needs a little more Nitrogen (10-15%) than Monalisa / Spunta. On sandy soils this amount should be spreaded in divided doses. On organic soils, the N amount can be lowered with ± 40 kgs N/ha.
Vivaldi is rather susceptible for bruising, therefore a good Potassium supply is also recommended. Apply an K-application (without chloride) before planting of about 200 kg K/ha. After tuberisation about 250 kg/ha MultiK-Mg 12-0-42-2 should be added. For a productive crop the application of micronutrients is essential. Especially Manganese and Magnesium provides a vigorous crop with better resistance against stress situations and early dying off. Spread the application of Manganese before flowering and Magnesium after flowering. These applications can be combined with the spraying of fungicides against Phytophthora.

Cultivation
Vivaldi prefers a clay soil with a good structure. Plant Vivaldi at a normal depth. To reach the maximum yield in the size 50 - 70 mm the following planting distances are recommended in rows of 75 cm:
28/35 22 cm 60.000 pl/ha.
35/50 28 cm 47.000 pl/ha.
45/55 cut seed 18 cm 74.000 pl/ha.
This variety is not susceptible to Sencor. The emergence and development is rather quick. The number of tubers per plant is average with a regular size.
Vivaldi is rather susceptible to Alternaria solani. An early application with a preventive fungicide is vital. Start with this treatment just after flowering. Also regular and early treatments against Phytophthora are recommended.
Harvest
After haulm killing, wait untill the skin is set. If the crop is mature and lifted with care, harvest does not need to cause problems. Be careful to avoid mechanical damage during harvesting and reduce dropping heights at the store, in order to avoid problems with fusarium during storage. Also apply fungicides before storage.
Storage
The variety has a rather long dormancy period and stores well. Ventilate regularly and keep the temperature low and constant. Avoid condensation during storage, this might increase a silver scurf infection.
Resistance to diseases
This variety is susceptible to potato cyst nematodes and immune to wart disease race 1. Susceptible to leaf blight and fairly resistant to tuber blight. Moderate resistance to common scab.
Vivaldi is susceptible to Alternaria solani (Early blight). Also somewhat susceptible to silver scurf and fusarium. This variety has a good resistance to drought, internal defects and second growth.
